Top 10 Dominated by Europe

The 2023 results showed that European locations were the most popular, with Paris in France topping the list.

The cities of Madrid in Spain, Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Berlin in Germany, Rome in Italy, Barcelona in Spain, and London in the United Kingdom were all included in the top ten positions.

Only three cities outside of Europe were able to join them on the list: Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (in 2nd place), Tokyo in Japan (in 4th place), which was the city's first appearance in the top 10 list, and New York in the United States (in 8th place).

For the purpose of determining an overall beauty score, cities are assessed based on 55 variables that are broken down into six primary areas, as reported by Euronews. The following categories encompass economic and business performance, tourist performance, infrastructure for tourism, tourism policy and attractiveness, health and safety, and sustainability.

Points are granted for a variety of factors, including the demand for tourism, accessibility, the use of intelligent technologies, and conservation programs.

With continual improvements being made in the build-up to the 2024 Olympics, Paris was able to regain its title as the most famous city in the world.

London is ranked 10th on the list of cities with the greatest tourist infrastructure in the world, according to the report. Berlin, on the other hand, was ranked 6th thanks to its recent campaign, which aimed to increase tourism in the city's most distant neighborhoods.

Other Cities on the List

In the top 20, European cities still have a dominant position. Munich in Germany is ranked 12th, followed by Milan in Italy. With the debut of Ireland's first 3D city map, Dublin takes 15th rank; Austria's Vienna comes in at 18th; and Portugal's Lisbon comes in at 20th.

Outside of Europe, Singapore placed 11th, Seoul in South Korea placed 14th, Osaka in Japan came 16th, Hong Kong took 17th place, and Los Angeles in the United States came 19th.

The study claims that fast urbanization and broad use of technology are the main drivers of Europe's prosperity. Due to the growth of remote work in 2023, factors such as reliable internet, flexible scheduling, and pleasant workspaces were crucial.

Sustainable tourism, which includes well-developed public transportation systems and efforts to curb the problem of over-tourism, was also a major focus this year.

Four new places entered the top 100 this year, according to CNN. All four--Washington, DC (at 48th place), Montreal (at 68th), Santiago (at 88th), and Vilnius (at 92nd)--can claim to have had better tourist performances than last year.
